Grilled chicken flip is amazing!

My experiences over the past 4 or 5 visits has been gradually declining. The quality of the food is not what it was when they were newer. The desserts used to be much larger portions and noticeably all hand made. Can't really tell anymore about whether they are still hand made and the portions are definitely smaller.

Great food and the staff are second to none. They were very polite and did a great job on making your visit a pleasant one.

I like Higher Ground, but that opinion is quickly changing. The food is usually great but the problem is the service. You never know what the service is going to be like when you go there. Tonight we waited nearly an hour for our food and the excuse I was given was that the cook didn't know how to cook the item I ordered. I was about to offer to cook it myself as it was only a portobello mushroom burger. We were not the only ones that has an issue, the table next to us waited just as long and that was because the kitchen forgot their order. The couple that walked in after we sat down, paid and left before we even saw our food. This is not first time this has happened to us. One day we will have great service and the other will be terrible. Again the food is good but it is starting to not be worth the frustration.Hopefully things will change but i may never go back to see it. Very disappointed.

Good food made daily from scratch. Great variety. Clean dining with good service and friendly staff. Best flounder and onion rings in town.

Have been there dozens of times. Food and service never disappoints. By far the best place to eat around Chapin.

The sir-porks-a-lot burger was the best I've ever had! 8oz. burger with cheddar, onion ring, bbq pulled pork, lettuce, tomato and coleslaw. The peanut butter pie with oreo crust was divine! 😋

Had the ooey gooey mooey burger was amazing....best burger I have had in years......customer service was very attentive made me feel like I had been coming there for years......and it was my first time I live a hour and half away.......and it was worth the drive.....

Best burger place around death by bacon burger is always made to perfection fast and friendly service. This place never disappoints everytime I go there.

Had a great family dinner here last night. We all really enjoyed our food. The service was very prompt and she was a very nice and helpful waitress! The food was very tasty and the items were all priced very reasonably. Definitely will eat here again and glad we checked it out last night!

Absolutely awesome. This spot is about as out of the way as it comes, unless you happen to live in Chapin, but it is worth the drive. The food is excellent. Easily top 5 burgers I've ever eaten. Great fries and atmosphere as well. I will update this review the next 10 times I'm back trying everything on the menu.The menu itself has a ton of burger options, which after today, I'd bet are all amazing. In addition, the service was awesome too. The waitress was all over refills and guest service in general.5/5 will send everybody I know here.

Had good burgers in the past but the one tonight that was supposed to be medium was raw. Second time in a row it wasn’t cooked correctly. Personally I don’t like the fries either. The back room chairs are uncomfortable make sure you sit in the front. Lastly their tip calculation is figured on the taxed amount so they want you to tip the sales tax.

Excellent staff, friendly and helpful while being professional. Lots of options to choose from all freshly made. Of interest the wait staff who served the table I sat at is also who made all the deserts served here. I will be back!

Always blown away when I come here! Love the atmosphere and vibes. The “Dis Won” and “The Patriot” are my absolute favorite burgers of all time. I DREAM about coming here for those! Food is always hot and fresh. Highly recommend!

Great friendly staff amazing beer (not on tap due to Virus 19)

1 burger, the Ooey, gooey, mooey, a side of fries and an app sampler, very filling, cooked perfectly. Their fried mushrooms, a pickle slices are great, wife said the onion rings were great too (I dont eat then) Def recommend this restaurant.

This place is usually great but the service tonight was horrible. Our waitress apparently didn’t understand you need to come back to the table at some point after you take an order. Bring your own napkins, and be prepared to listen to the manager talk about his wife’s families wedding venue business for the entirety of your meal.

My family and I went to Higher Ground tonight. It was our 1st experience there. After reading the reviews we knew the food would be good but seemed as tho the service would be iffy. That was not the case for us. We got the pleasure of having Daisy’s as our waitress. We had never met Daisy before and honestly I had to ask her what her name was. Not because she didn’t tell us upon greeting us but, because let’s face it when you go out to eat you’re focused on the atmosphere, the food, and the cleanliness. All were great!!! We wanted to know Daisy name because she made the experience extraordinary. She was extremely polite and made us feel as tho we were at home. Her recommendation on the menu were honest and accurate. She spent time getting to know us as a family and not just another table she was serving. We will be back and highly recommend going to those who have not yet been.

Visited here on a Saturday evening. We were greeted by a friendly staff and sat immediately. Ordered the fried pickle appetizers, they were hand battered, fresh and delicious. All menu options looked outstanding, which made it very hard to choose. Our burgers were perfectly cooked, full of flavor, fresh, and came out in a reasonable time. Fries were fresh cut and cooked to perfection. Our service was excellent. Not only do I recommend this place, our airbnb host did as well. We visit the the area yearly from Ohio, and we will be back!

The CharNobyl burger is possibly the best burger I have ever had anywhere. I love this place. I have been here 5 times and have got this burger Everytime so I can't speak to anything else on the menu. The fries here àre second to none. You guys make my soul happy.

(Awesome food love it) That was my old postI really loved this place until I went a few days ago. My bread was cold and nasty and they used microwaved bacon. Not the real bacon. I was so upset why spend all that time on creating the perfect hamburger but use fake bacon. And not toast the bun. Very disappointed

My family ate here for the first time tonight. we drove about 35-40 mins to get there. The staff was amazing and very friendly. Our order was done quickly and accurately. Let me tell you that I would choose this establishment over just about any other place in Columbia. I got the char noble and it was amazing! perfectly spicy and very filling. I can never find a burger spicy enough for my taste but this one did it, and the fries are fantastic. We will definitely be back. Thanks

I rate this one 4 stars because it was exactly what I was looking for! The burger I ordered was absolutely fantastic, the slaw was super cold and sweet as was the tea! Had the fried mushrooms first and they were the best I've had around. The desserts are homemade too. I had the raspberry cheesecake, wow! JeeJee was awesome!

Wow what a place. I have eaten all over US, Europe, and Mexico and this is one of the best burger places ever. Manager and wait staff checked on us and my Hawiain burger was awesome. My daughter and son in law found out they were pregnant and recommended this place. I was proud, happy and well fed. Thank you so much

50/50 on shrimp and baby flounder basket. Soggy with grease fries that have some sort of sprinkled seasoning-maybe galic salt? Shrimp had strong iodine flavor. Baby flounder was perfect-no heavy salt or seasons, flaky, delicious

Higher ground always serves great food. It tastes good, looks good, and they have healthy options. The staff is always friendly and enthusiastic. They are often busy, so if you come during typical meal hours you can expect a bit of a wait but it is always well worth it. They serve American food, and many of their meals have a downsized option.

Such great service everytime I'm here. Food is always on point! I really enjoyed their new Texas Melt burger and the fried green tomatoes.

Of all of the places that I thought were coffee shops but actually server burgers, this one is the best. Also the best artisan burger venue I’ve been to in Columbia.

HGCH offers great burgers at a reasonable price. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is cozy. The restaurant fills up quickly during meal times, so plan ahead accordingly. There's not much of a waiting area, so you may end up outside or in your vehicle, depending on the weather.

This place is incredible. The chefs that they have in the back are some magical people. I ordered the BBQ sandwich and it was absolutely delicious. Get the fried pickles!!! The Stubborn soda is amazing. The kids chicken fingers is like a basket of gold. BUY THE GOLD! Honestly I'm pretty sure we would have loved anything on the menu. I love that they have a little putt putt area outside. I hope to shake hands with the chef one day!

This was our first time here but definitely not the last. Everything we ordered was phenomenal and we are both foodies. I recommend this place for any and everyone. Thank you for amazing food and service!!!

Awesome. Fantastic burgers at a reasonable price. We went when this place was slammed, and it still didn't take us too long to get seated and served and receive our food. The food was fresh and tasty, and the sides were quite hefty as well. I would recommend the sweet potato fries (so good and sweet whilst savory), and the "Dis Won" burger which I had and as seen in the photo (soooooooo good). All of the burgers looked great, and my friends and I loved this place (we each ordered something different and were equally impressed). Can't go wrong. I can't wait to go back and order whatever strikes my fancy.

Wow! Probably the best burger I've ever had. Great, friendly service from our server Olivia. Juicy burger with very good homemade fries. Can't wait to come back and try something different from the menu. The brownie was great too, I wish it was a little bigger though.

They were very busy at Prime-time dinner time. About 20-25 minute wait for a table. Service was a little slow, but that was to be expected. Food was excellent. Best time to go is off peak of course.

I have never had a negative experience at higher ground, the burgers always blow me away and the food overall tastes excellent. they have a great variety of foods on their menu- everything of which is delicious. slightly high prices for the food - but by far one of my favorite places in chapin to eat!

A great place for business casual or just a relax no pressure date. Unique burgers of which is just awesome and nontraditional.Personally I recommend for an appetizer the Char-Nobyl Shrimp and for the main course: Cocky Doodle burger. This is the one you want.

Really good hamburger but was not a fan of the fries which were covered in garlic powder.

The variety be intense so much to choose from & all delicious
